Jenn Tran's journey begins as she meets her suitors
Season 21 of ABC's "The Bachelorette" premiered on Monday, July 8, with 26-year-old physician's assistant student Jenn Tran eager to find her soulmate.
Jenn, who finished third on Joey Graziadei's season of "The Bachelor," won over Bachelor Nation with her bubbly personality. Now, she makes history as the first Asian American Bachelorette. "I want to make everybody proud and honor my heritage," Tran shared in a confessional at the beginning of the show. "I just have to be myself and do my best."
The suitors went all out to leave a memorable first impression on Jenn. Brendan ate raw hot peppers to show he could "handle the heat" of a relationship. Jonathan arrived on a stretcher, covered in facial bandages and wearing only a hospital gown, revealing his bare backside to Jenn. He explained the bandages were to let her judge him "for what's inside rather than what's outside."
The first night was mostly fun and drama-free, featuring a game of truth or dare that allowed the men to showcase their wild sides.
The only tension arose when Jeremy, who arrived in a fancy sports car, let Jenn experience the driver's seat. Brian seized the moment by stealing the keys and spending some alone time with Jenn in Jeremy's car. Despite the antics, Jenn's "gut" told her to give the first impression rose to Sam M.
After the rose ceremony, Jenn announced that she and the remaining men would be heading to Melbourne, Australia.
